I paint small oil artworks of fruit, veg, flowers, and anything else which catches my eye; Krispy Kreme donuts for instance, in an alla prima or direct painting style. I paint each piece in one session and this way the painting stays fresh. It also helps keep my style loose.
I spend a fairly long time each morning mixing all the shades on my palette before I start painting. I am always drawn to bright Mediterranean colours which lighten up a room.
Most of the fruit and veg comes from Hugo’s Greengrocers down the road, an Aladdins’s cave of colourful fruit and vegetables.
