I am a self-taught, Bristol-based artist who uses oil paint to create emotive representations of streets and cities. I use a variety of tools to build depth and texture into my paintings, with the aim of bringing out the colour and the drama of city lights juxtaposed against dark shadows, while also attempting to maintain a natural balance and harmony.
Painting started as a hobby for me, and I have experimented with a wide range of mediums, styles and subjects. My home of Bristol is the original inspiration for my art, but recently I have expanded into a more abstracted style – veering away from a true representation and letting the painting tell me what it needs.
