Amy Vans

In my studio in Easton, Bristol, I paint vibrant and contemplative abstracts in acrylics and mixed media. Whilst painting, I’m wholly focused on the image I am creating and where the next swipe of the palette knife is going to take me.

I enjoy the technical side, moving the paint on the canvas, creating drips, splatters and textures. I work very spontaneously, regularly changing my palette and experimenting with different processes. I create a rich surface texture with many layers, using pattern and contrast to add depth and to lead the eye across the canvas.

Each painting reflects my emotions, and the image develops as part of the process.

I have exhibited widely over the last 10 years and have work in many private collections in the UK and abroad including Europe, Dubai and the USA.
