My art is inspired by early mark making, non–verbal communication through to the development of writing systems. Likewise, primitive pattern. I like to exploit the alphabet. Abstract pattern in nature is also a fascination. I mostly use line and very basic printing techniques. Whilst trying to strip things down to absolute basics, it still gets complicated. I worked as a calligrapher for many years, and still teach.
