Sue Pickering is a Mixed Media Artist. She uses a number of processes in each piece of work, including print, paint and collage. Colour, shape and texture are important features in all of her designs. UNHIDDEN GEMS This series of mixed-media collages was created using a combination of analogue and digital collage processes. Each piece began as an abstract paper collage. Digital processes were then used to add images from photographs to each collage. The name ‘Unhidden Gems’ comes from the things Sue recorded in her photographs – pavements, trees, weeds, railings – and manhole covers (known by enthusiasts as ‘Street Jewellery’). These everyday items have been incorporated into colourful, abstract and playful collages.
