I’m a Bristol-based artist working with abstract painting. I mainly use acrylic paint finished with oil pastels, which I melt and mix to create darker, more muted colours. The oil pastels also help me build up texture in the later stages of a piece.
A lot of my recent work starts from photos, usually of my family outdoors. I pixelate the images to break them down into blocks of colour, which gives me a starting point for the composition and palette. From there, I paint more freely and let the image develop.
Sometimes I follow this process, and other times I just paint based on feeling. My work sits somewhere between the two.
