A printmaker, mixed-media artist and photographer working out of Spike Print Studio and BV Studios in Bristol, Jonathan’s work includes screenprints, alternative-process photography, collage and acrylic painting.
Jonathan likes to explore what can be achieved by breaking the rules of process-print techniques. He enjoys the expressive freedom of abstract monoprinting, often overlaying this with graphic elements in metallic foil. He uses photographic emulsion extracted from Polaroids, reclaimed Polaroid negatives and cyanotpes (blueprints). Many of these techniques are combined in his mixed-media works on canvas which are inspired by his love of architecture as well as thoughts about personal experience and his place in the world. He loves gold.
