Capturing the essence of a landscape, I focus on fragments that thrill me to create a visual journey, using charcoal line to allow the story to weave across the paper. I evolve the narrative to produce exciting semi-abstract paintings in pastel and charcoal.
Influenced by contours of the landscape, ancient monuments, historical field patterns and modern farming, old estate maps and archaeological drawings. My landscapes are a play of mark making, texture, tone and colour, I like to feel the medium and the paper to enable me to puzzle out the emerging picture.
