Emma Studd is a multidisciplinary printmaker whose practice centres on creating original, one-off geometric screen prints. Using the screen as a drawing tool, she explores the relationships between colour, shape and pattern, creating layered compositions that evoke depth, movement and optical illusion.
Inspired by geometry and the process of synthesising the visual world around her, Emma has developed a systematic yet intuitive approach to screen printing. Rather than producing editions, she embraces the medium’s unpredictability, adapting and responding to each layer as the work evolves. Through careful balancing of tone, colour and composition, the process itself becomes an active collaborator, allowing each print to arrive at its own unique resolution.
Emma holds a BA in Textile Design, a PGCE in Art and Design, and an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from UWE, completed in 2020. Alongside her studio practice, she has taught Art and Textiles in schools and colleges for over fifteen years. She currently teaches and prints at Spike Print Studio, where she continues to develop her distinctive printmaking style.
