Rob Elgar

Creating art has always been my way of connecting with the world. More than a passion, it’s the thread that runs through every chapter of my life. For as long as I can remember, art has been both my constant companion and the truest expression of who I am.

In a digital-first world the honesty and endeavour of craft inspire me. My creative practice has always been my home, my sanctuary and my battleground! It pushes me to keep looking closer, to keep asking questions and translating them visually. I may not be religious, but I do see quiet grace and wonder in the everyday, moments that we often overlook in our rush to keep moving forward.

I’m captivated by light—not just how it looks, but how it feels. You know that moment when sunlight hits the kitchen table just right, or when shadows ripple across a wall? That quiet magic, the way light and shade shape our perception of the world—that’s what I’m chasing. I want to capture those fleeting moments that make you pause, take a second look, and feel something you can’t quite name.

Through colour, light, and shadow, I try to slow down time – to hold those moments still long enough to study them, understand them, and share them. I hope my work helps you see your day a little differently.
