You’re beginning to fade, you know – and then one can’t help one’s petals getting a little untidy.” – the Rose to Alice in Through the Looking-Glass.
Based in South Bristol, I’m a mostly self-taught printmaker and visual artist working in relief and intaglio printing, pen and watercolour. My art explores flowers, gardens, and allotments — spaces rich with memory, ritual, and identity. Recently, I’ve studied screen printing and etching at Spike Print Studio, expanding my creative techniques.
With a PhD in archaeology, my research considers how plants and animals shape household identity — ideas that permeate my visual work. Literary influences include Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through the Looking-Glass’ and Penelope Lively’s ‘Life in the Garden’, both of which explore how plants reflect status, personality, and cultural narratives.
