Susie does not adhere to any one style, format, theme or media, allowing the ‘story’ to lead . Both drawings and painting are combined in try-outs. She paints of things past, current and the ‘what-ifs’ of the future… “many ghosts feature and facts morph into fiction”.
Ever the optomist, yet very aware of imbalanced opportunity for people worldwide, Susie says: “I seem to couch these dark themes with energetic colour and often plant forms!”
The Written Word feeds into her painting titles, and vice versa. A song line, an overheard conversation, an expletive yelled… She says of titles: “Titles offer an invitation to the unsuspecting viewer”… and, “I see myself as an ‘Armchair Musician’”.
