In her studio, Lesley loves to work with a family memento, something collected from travels or picked up in a junk shop; a vase of flowers or a found object. She enjoys giving a focus and gravitas to the everyday; making studies of the mundane and temporary ephemera of our lives whilst enjoying the delicious process of working with oil paint and ink.
Lesley has built a home-made bottle-jack press that she uses to make relief prints, often just inking up objects and enjoying the random unexpected textures that emerge, or working with non traditional methods of cutting or distressing a printable surface. Based in Bristol, she is also a tutor of drawing, mark making and life drawing.
