Like her fellow Latvian Mark Rothko, Lieģis has a muted palette, yet within this thoughtful use of colour there are underlying strata; both a richness, and a placid calmness. You are taken into this ‘other’ world. It is not your own world, but you recognise strands of your own history and experience. These images are suffused with an intensity of atmosphere that makes you feel that at any point, in any image there is ‘more’ behind, more in front, East ,West, another world is there – glimpsed through these wondrous windows.
