I find immense satisfaction in discovering the infinite variety of tone, line and colour intrinsic in the subjects I am attempting to portray. The mark making process, I believe, should be as individual as one’s signature and in reflecting the character of the artist, provide an additional value to the work. Although I use a wide variety of media I mainly use acrylics and while portraiture is my favourite subject, I also work with still life, flower paintings, the nude and the occasional landscape. I prefer to work directly from a subject but will use photographic references for commissions or where practical considerations make using a photograph unavoidable.
