Rod’s enchanting landscapes are the result of his spiritual connection with nature. Trees in particular play a vital role in his work, adding strength and structure, sometimes being stripped to a graphic form resulting in an unearthly presence. Painting deep in the forest, he can see beyond the physical, drawing positive energy from the trees, through the brush and onto the canvas. This energy and personal emotional input can be felt by the viewer as it flows from the finished painting. Rod’s latest project is creating hand-crafted, gilt frames for his work. These are inspired by renaissance tabernacle frames and made using authentic methods from the period. Rod has exhibited throughout the UK and has work in many private collections globally.
